What is Forever Young BBL?

Broad band light (BBL) also known as photofacials, these rejuvenating skin treatments can address hyperpigmentation concerns such as sun damage, age spots, rosacea, broken capillaries, & cherry angiomas. A BBL may not be an invasive process, but it can be highly effective and create impressive outcomes. We use light energy from the mJOULE® device from Sciton and 755 Alexandrite to raise the temperature of the skin just enough to trigger its natural regeneration process and boost collagen production. With consistent treatments, you should see a healthier-looking complexion with a more even tone and fewer and/or lighter pigmentation. Many clients like to add on Moxi for a more invasive treatment.

  • Neutralizing of hyperpigmentation and sun spots
  • Reducing redness caused by rosaeca
  • Refreshed, rejuvenated skin appearance
  • Contributes to skin radiance

Who is a Candidate for BBL?

  • Sun Damaged Skin: People looking to clear up freckles, age spots, liver spots, and uneven pigmentation caused by UV exposure.
  • Vascular Concerns: Individuals dealing with facial redness, rosacea, flushing, and small broken capillaries.
  • Early Signs of Aging: Those wanting to improve skin texture, fine lines, and mild skin laxity by stimulating new collagen production.
  • Preventative Care: Younger adults (in their 20s and 30s) who want to maintain youthful skin and delay the aging process.
  • Fitzpatrick Skin Types I–IV: Individuals with fair, olive, or light brown complexions where the light can safely target pigment differences.

Who is not a candidate?

Recent Tanning or Sunburns: Avoid treatment if you have an active tan, sunburn, or used self-tanning lotions within the past 4 weeks. The extra melanin absorbs too much laser energy, leading to thermal burns.

Unprotected Sun Exposure: Anyone unable or unwilling to strictly avoid direct sun exposure and wear SPF 30+ for 2 to 4 weeks before and after the session should defer.

Photosensitizing Medications: People taking drugs that make the skin sensitive to light (such as certain antibiotics, diuretics, or anti-inflammatory drugs) must postpone treatment.

Recent Accutane Use: Individuals who have taken oral isotretinoin (Accutane) within the past 6 to 12 months.

Pregnancy & Breastfeeding: Elective cosmetic light therapies are generally deferred due to limited safety data and unpredictable hormonal pigment changes.

Light-Triggered Seizures: Anyone with a medical history of seizures triggered by flashing or pulsing lights.

Fitzpatrick Skin Type VI: Individuals with very dark skin complexions face a high risk of permanent pigment alteration and burns because the light cannot distinguish between skin melanin and target blemishes.

Melasma: People with melasma must proceed with extreme caution; broadband light and heat can occasionally trigger inflammation and worsen dark patches.

Active Irritation or Infections: Avoid if you have active cold sore outbreaks, open wounds, bacterial infections, or severe eczema/dermatitis flares in the target area.

Post care: 24-48 hours

Cool the Skin: Expect a mild, sunburn-like sensation for 30 to 60 minutes after treatment. You can apply a cold compress or a clean, damp cloth wrapped around an ice pack to soothe warmth.

Skip Active Sweat: Avoid intense exercise, hot tubs, saunas, and steam rooms. Excess heat and sweat can worsen inflammation and redness.

Wash Gently: Wash the treated area using only tepid water and a gentle, fragrance-free cleanser. Use your hands rather than washcloths or scrubbing brushes.

Pause Shaving: Do not shave the treated area while the skin feels tender, red, or swollen.

Hold the Makeup: Wait 24 hours before applying makeup. Ensure the skin is entirely intact without any blistering before applying cosmetics.

Avoid Exfoliants: Wait 48 hours to use retinols or any exfoliating products.

Pigmentation would become darker and gradually fade to lighter within about a week. Reds would look more prevalent and fade to lighter within 2-3 days.

Gentle cleanser, Plated, C-radical, A-luminate, Regenerating Skin Nectar, Restorative Skin Complex, moisturizer, and spf are all approved for post care.
